Whitewater Adventures - Nepal

'Whitewater adventures - Nepal' is a Web-based guidebook giving the low down on Rafting, Kayaking and many other adventure sports available in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal.
We are not a rafting operator or travel agency. We can organise trips to Nepal for you whether you are experienced, novice, rafter or kayaker.

The primary aim of the site is to offer impartial advice to anyone planning to spend time in Nepal, either exploring the many amazing rivers, or those interested in a holiday with some real adventure and adrenaline packed activities.

Whitewater Adventures is non-profit making and is independent of any travel agent or rafting operator in Nepal. All of the web-sites and companies featured have been personally checked myself. Some of the companies have previously employed me as safety kayaker and instructor on the Nepali rivers and this first hand experience ensures that you, the adventurer gets up to date and reliable information.

Things change quickly in Nepal and if anyone out there has information they can offer us here at the site, let me know and I'll credit the updates to you. Due to these frequent changes please read the disclaimer at the bottom of 'The Rivers' page.

Thanks to continued support from all the sites that link to us we have grown since November 1999 into one of the major references to Whitewater Sports in the Nepali Himalaya. At the time of the most recent site upgrade we have had over 28,000 page views.
Particular thanks go to Lonely Planet and the UK Guidebook who's sites recommend us and link to us.

Many people, both novices and experts ask me what I think is the most important thing to bring when participating in adventure sports in Nepal and to quote a more well known river runner, Cam Macleay: "The most important thing to bring is the right mental attitude"

If this guide fails to offer the precise information you need, feel free to e-mail me. If I can't find the info. they're will be someone I know who can!

One of the latest upgrades to the site in April 2001 came after a three week trip to Nepal in March. Thanks go out to all who offered information and content to the site. Thanks also to David Allardice for his overwhelming hospitality and Anders Blomquist who showed me it was possible to split your sides (almost) with laughter.

Since then we've regularly visited Nepal at least once a year, sometimes more. The Maoist situation continues to change with a ceasefire in place at present. Most travellers to Nepal have little or no experience of the Maoist issues and trips continue to run on most of the rivers listed on this site. Check with local raft operators in Kathmandu prior to departure.
